The Instituto Biosistêmico (IBS) started another round of Reproductive Management consultations at the Cooplaf Leite Project, in Terenos, Mato Grosso do Sul, this Monday, 09/19.

In these consultations, IBS's veterinarians perform the gynecological assessment of dairy cows, the protocol in suitable animals, in addition to the pregnancy diagnosis. This is the third round of reproductive management that will continue until the beginning of October in the settlements in Terenos’ region, covering the 100 producers that are part of the Cooplaf Leite Project.

As explained by the veterinarians who are part of the project's reproductive management team, the ultrasound examination performed in the herds allows a more accurate analysis of the structures of the reproductive system of cows.

Through this exam, it is possible to verify the reproductive status, identify reproductive pathologies and select animals that present adequate ovarian activity for the ovulation synchronization protocols for later performance of Fixed Time Artificial Insemination (FTAI).

“In reproductive management care, our work seeks to increase the number of lactating cows, reduce calving intervals, in addition to increasing the percentage of pregnant cows”, highlights veterinarian Geancarlos Carraro, who is part of the project’s reproductive management team.

About the project

The Cooplaf Leite Project was conceived by the Instituto BioSistêmico with the main objective of promoting the development of dairy farming among the cooperative members of the Cooperativa Agrícola Mista da Pecuária de Corte e Leiteira and Agricultura Familiar (Cooplaf), an entity headquartered in the municipality of Terenos, in state of Mato Grosso do Sul, in the Center-West region of Brazil.

Executed by IBS, the initiative has the support of resources from the Zoetis Foundation and the Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Enterprises (Sebrae) in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. It also receives institutional and academic support from Unimar – University of Marília.

This is another livestock project carried out by the Instituto BioSistêmico that uses the CheckMilk methodology, which has a platform with a management system and application for technical teams and producers. The system facilitates project management and the application helps the producer on a daily basis, as an extension of the IBS consultancy that can be accessed at any time in the palm of the hand.
