Cooplaf Leite Project producers receive guidance on nutritional management ofthe herd

Regina Groenendal

During the month of November, the 100 properties assisted by the BioSistêmico

Institute (IBS) in the Cooplaf Leite Project, in settlements in the municipality of Terenos-

MS, receive another round of nutritional management assistance for the dairy herd.

Agronomist Thadeu Rincão, an IBS consultant, started visiting producers on 11/03 and

continues until the end of this month.

In this round, the results of soil analysis of samples collected in the previous service are

being delivered, with recommendations for fertilization and planting. Based on the

guidelines given by the agronomist, the producers have planned the planting, reforming

and maintaining the pasture, growing corn, capiaçu grass, among other varieties.

“Producers are increasingly aware of the importance of planning to ensure that the dairy

herd is fed, especially during the dry season. They are planting more capiaçu grass and

corn for siloing”, reports Thadeu Rincão.

The IBS consultant claims that the soil analyzes that have been carried out through the

Cooplaf Leite program contribute to increasing the productivity of pastures,

guaranteeing more food for the cattle.

“Soil analysis is fundamental for pasture management, correcting the soil to produce

more and with quality, increasing the protein content of the pasture. With increased

productivity and quality, the producer is able to place more cattle in a smaller area”,

highlights the agronomist.

About the project

The Cooplaf Leite Project was conceived by the Instituto BioSistêmico with the main

objective of promoting the development of dairy farming among the cooperative members of the Cooperativa Agrícola Mista da Pecuária de Corte e Leiteira and Agricultura Familiar (Cooplaf), an entity headquartered in the municipality of Terenos, in state of Mato Grosso do Sul, in the Center-West region of Brazil.

Executed by IBS, the initiative has the support of resources from the Zoetis Foundation

and the Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Enterprises (Sebrae) in the state

of Mato Grosso do Sul. It also receives institutional and academic support from Unimar

– University of Marília.

This is another livestock project carried out by the Instituto BioSistêmico that uses the

CheckMilk methodology, which has a platform with a management system and

application for technical teams and producers. The system facilitates project

management and the application helps the producer on a daily basis, as an extension of

the IBS consultancy that can be accessed at any time in the palm of the hand.
